In a move that will bring tears of joy to the eyes of clubbers this Monday morning, London Mayor, Sadiq Khan, has confirmed that part of the London Overground will run a  24-hour service on Fridays and Saturdays.

The line between New Cross Gate and Dalston Junction will be the first to operate round the clock this December, which will then be extended to Highbury and Islington in 2018. The move will likely provide a huge boost to the night-time economy, providing ease of access to some of the capital's party hot-spots.

In a statement Khan said: "I am delighted to announce that we'll be bringing the Night Overground to the East London line later this year. It will provide huge benefits to Londoners and visitors to our city, helping those working hard through the night and all those out enjoying everything London has to offer, as well as creating jobs and boosting our economy."

The move follows the successful introduction of the Night Tube last year.
