Irish Artist Joe Caslin Unveils Large Scale Installation Ahead Of Belfast Gay Pride

The work which features a couple from Belfast who travelled to America to get married earlier this year, along with a portrait exhibition exploring friendship, will be unveiled ahead of Belfast Gay Pride 2016, on the 30th July 2016.

The Irish artist's ongoing work to promote equality for LGBT communities, has been widely recognised. Caslin’s previous work has included ‘The Claddagh Embrace’, a large scale paper mural in Ireland last year, depicting two males hugging, drawing global attention ahead of the country's same sex marriage referendum. Caslin has also won critical acclaim for his project ‘Our Nation’s Sons', which has seen him erect large-scale portrait murals at various sites around around the country in an attempt to challenge negative stereotypes of young men in Ireland.

His current project inspired by Belfast’s Pride theme this year ‘We are one’, celebrates the concept of family, and the wider network support of those in the community. Caslin wants to delve deeper into what togetherness means in today’s society whilst celebrating, friendship, partnerships and community.
